‘Love Is Blind’ On Netflix Is The Next Unconscionably Watchable Dating Show
Dating shows all tend to follow the same kind of format these days. But occasionally, we get treated to a premise so ridiculous we can’t help but proclaim it to be a work of entertainment genius. And the premise is incredibly simple if not totally batshit : singles choose a person to marry without ever having seen them. Since it launched last week on Netflix, fans have been taking to the Internet to point out how ludicrous but ultimately, watchable Love Is Blind is. Within the first few episodes, there are multiple declarations of love from couples who have never laid eyes on each other. And in the past week, fans have been going wild on Twitter over one very bizarre moment – where Jessica let her Golden Retriever drink red wine out of her glass. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but worth watching again because honestly, WTF?! She has now responded to the backlash in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. I think I was just really uncomfortable. Jessica from love is blind really let her dog lick her wine and continued to drink.
When Will the Final ‘Love Is Blind’ Episode Drop on Netflix?
There, I said it. I wish I could be one of those people who loves educational and informative shows but alas. They never see each other. Quite literally, they decided to shove thirty people into a house together, heteronormatively separate the men and the women, added a few engagement rings to the mix and hoped for the best.
From the very first episode, like most people, I was rooting for Lauren and Cameron. Lauren, a black woman, had never dated a white man before, and she warned Cameron who is white from the beginning that he would face adversity from her family. Proposing to her on the very first episode of the season, they quickly became fan-favourites and I was absolutely overjoyed when I found out they were one of only two couples to go through with their marriage, and are still together to this day.

At the end of these 90 days, the foreign significant other must marry their American lover, or return to their home country to avoid deportation. Fun fact: Even though the couples’ marriages are legally binding, Married At First Sight has each cast member sign built-in prenup agreements that keep individuals financially protected.

Netflix’s ‘Love Is Blind’: The Experimental Reality Dating Series We Can’t Wait to Watch!
It centers on a group of singles who go on a series of literal blind dates. They can only hear them. Then they get engaged—yes, engaged—without ever laying eyes on the person. Will they be attracted to their betrothed? Will their friends and family members approve? Hot on the heels of the surprisingly sweet The Circle , the Netflix algorithm has produced another bingeable reality show. This one is called Love Is Blind , which is hosted by a largely absent real-life celebrity couple—Nick and Vanessa Lachey, who fell in love face-to-face—and brings together a tried and true formula. It sounds like a lofty social experiment, but, dear reader, it most certainly is not.
Love Is Blind begins by dropping 30 young Atlanta singles into an elaborate blind dating facility set for ten days, at the end of which they must either get engaged to a fellow contestant or go home. The men and women live in separate quarters connected by a row of 15 pods, where they begin a rotation of 7-minute speed date sessions to get to know each other.
Six couples 12 of the 30 participants make it to this stage of the game. The couples get to meet in person once they are engaged, and after the anonymous Circle -esque portion of the show ends, the novelty of the concept mostly wears off although the show remains dreadfully watchable. From there, the engaged couples are whisked off to Mexico for a pre-wedding honeymoon in which they begin to cultivate their physical relationships they already have incredibly strong emotional bonds—you could never understand, having not experienced pod-dating yourself.
Trouble begins early on for some couples in paradise. One couple calls it quits with rings thrown into the pool! The pairs still standing—or teetering, rather—are soon after flown home to Atlanta to prepare for their weddings, which are to be held in three weeks time. The five remaining couples move in together and face integrating their real lives, student debt and all. Unsurprisingly, more than one of these weddings end in disaster.
